Celebrating our 15th birthday in style in our new Treasured Space!

Triangle Garden friends gathering around the new mosaic

On July 17th we held a very special celebration evening for everyone involved with the Triangle Garden over its 15 year history. As well as celebrating our 15th anniversary we were also marking the completion of our Treasured Spaces project, and the first phase of our Forest Garden (more about that in the next article).

The Triangle Garden’s Treasured Spaces project, funded by environmental charity Groundwork, has transformed the Garden’s central meeting space into an outdoor classroom, surrounded by pollinator-friendly planting in new raised beds. “We are absolutely delighted with the refurbishment, by McCarthy Landscapes” said Chair of Trustees Vicky Wyer, “The new mosaic and paving look amazing and I can’t wait to see our bee-friendly climbers growing up over the beautiful new pergolas. Our Garden committee and Gardening Club have done a brilliant job designing and planting up the raised beds.”

The new space will be used as an outdoor classroom, and has a special demountable shade sail for temporary shelter. “Our learning disabled gardeners are very excited about the new space. Some of them were involved in creating the beautiful new mosaic thanks to Jane Visick Mosaics,” said Project Manager Liz McElroy. “Others helped with the planting, and we’re all looking forward to using the new space for our therapeutic horticulture projects. We would also love to see more schools, scouting groups and Fun Clubs booking visits to the Garden – there is so much potential for fun and discovery here.”

We'd like to thank all those who helped raise the funds for this project, especially the residents of Benslow who contributed £1200 to the £5000 target, through their Open Gardens Day in 2014. Groundwork treble-match-funded our total to give us a budget of £20,000 for the project, which enabled us to use good solid sustainable materials that will last many many years.
