Open Day & Fun Dog Show

A fun day out for all ages in aid of your local community garden with loads of outdoor activities for everyone, including an All Age Bake Off

There’ll be lots of fun outdoor activities for kids: pond gazing, snail racing, welly-wanging, wet sponge stocks, hook a newt, etc. Plus plant sales, global food stalls including a fabulous Smok'n Greek Barbecue and Bal's Vegetarian Asian Food, loads of great craft stalls, cakes sales, strawberries, ices, raffle, tombola and for entertainment there’ll be Brazilian Carnival percussion with Garden City Samba, Zumba with Robert, ACapella singing from Hitchin Allstar Choir, garden tours and a fabulous Fun Dog Show, raising funds for Forever Hounds Trust. The Triangle Garden will be looking especially wild and jungly thanks to a yarnbombing display by Hitchin Stitchin - well worth a visit!

12.00 Garden City Samba - Brazilian Carnival Percussion from Letchworth!

12-12.30  Entries accepted for the All Age Bake Off at the Pavilion Gazebo. Entries limited to 10 per category - to be sure of a place enter in advance online here.  This is the half hour slot where you bring your cake along. Pay your 50p at this point. Don't forget to give us permission to donate all or part of your cake to our fundraising cake stall in the Pavilion. Thank you!

12.00 Registration opens for the Forever Hounds Trust Fun Dog Show

12.15-4pm: Dog Agility Displays from Orchard Agility - bring your dog along and see what they can do in the regular 'have a go' sessions inbetween displays! 

12.30 Zumba with Robert with audience participation - come and have a go at this fun dance-fitness craze!

1.00 Garden City Samba parade and audience participation session - bringing Rio Carnival to Ransom's Rec!

1.30pm All Age Bake Off Prize Giving by Cookery Eatery

1.45pm Fun Dog Show starts - classes will be: Best Pedigree, Best Crossbreed, Handsomest Dog, Prettiest Bitch, Waggiest Tail, Best Child Handler, Best Rescue, and Most Kissable Nose! £2 to enter.

2pm Hitchin Allstar Choir performance at the Pavilion - enjoy their beautiful A-capella harmonies

2.30pm Tour of the Triangle Community Garden: Discover the secrets of the Triangle Community Garden - a 20 minute tour of the Triangle Garden and its Forest Garden with Garden Club leader Steve Granger: covering what we're trying to achieve, what we're growing, how we keep the garden maintained, why we allow the wildness in, what challenges we face, what plans we have for the future and how you can help.Book Online

3pm Hitchin Allstar Choir performance at the Pavilion

3.30pm Tour of the Growing Ability/Health projects at the allotment: Find out all about our healthy living and social therapeutic horticulture projects for adults with learning disabilities, with Project Manager Liz McElroy. Discover what social therapeutic horticulture is, and how it can help those attending our Growing Ability project lead more fulfilling lives. Find out how our Growing Health project has changed the lives of its members for the better - from weight management, healthy eating, fitness and stamina, to changing the habits of a lifetime. Discover the role our allotments and polytunnel play in our projects and the contribution made by volunteers in all our work. Book Online
