Growing Ability Trip to the Museum

This week's guest blog is by Dale, one of our Growing Ability gardeners.

'As a Triangle Community Gardener, we all went for a walk down the Hitchin Museum, to look around the old treasures and history of the museum.
After we had a few group photos for our Gardening Newsletter, we had a group talk, all of us together.
We all said we would come back after the Christmas holiday break.
At the end of the session trip, we went to the Christchurch café for a cup of tea, it tasted really nice.'

'I’ve been making artwork using leaves, I made a leaf wreath and I have used all sorts of leaves with different autumn colours. The colours are around us now; I can see the bright colours; green, reds, orange, yellow and dark colours; brown. The brown leaves are more crispy.

Coronavirus update on our Growing Ability projects

If you've been wondering what's been happening at our Growing Ability projects since we closed the service in March, we have now reopened (in July) and here's an update from Project Manager Liz McElroy:

Never before has our project been of such benefit and importance to so many people in our community. With the life changing effects we have all been immersed in throughout the pandemic, individuals have come together to form stronger bonds of solidarity and register their appreciation towards the continued support and development of our projects.

As a part of our Social and Horticultural Therapy sessions at Growing Ability, we come across many situations whereby activities in the garden are used to develop our clients socially, physically and mentally. The sessions we provide aim to improve confidence, self-esteem, health and well-being. Project Manager Liz McElroy takes us through one such situation:
