The Pavilion

The Pavilion (more precisely the north wing of Ransom’s Pavilion) is our community hub, with a workshop/ classroom/ meeting space, spacious kitchen and toilets, all fully accessible. We use it as a base for our projects, community activities and creative workshops.

The building is well-ventilated with numerous openable windows, air-source heating/cooling and a cordless CO2 monitor to check ventilation levels. It can hold up to 37 people (up to 10 for a socially distanced workshop). Small is beautiful!

The Pavilion is less than 5 minutes walk from Hitchin station and associated bus stops. It is also easily accessible by car from Alexandra Road, Hitchin SG5 1RB for tutors dropping off workshop equipment, and there is short-stay parking close by, with long-stay at the station carpark within easy walking distance.

Our thanks go to the following for funding the Pavilion refurbishment and fitting out in 2009-10:

We’re very grateful to NHC for continued management of the building fabric and utilities, and to volunteers from Hitchin-based company Crane BSU for their ongoing help with redecoration and fit out.
